Children’s Literacy Network is closely monitoring the local impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. While this situation is still developing, there is still much we do not know. At CLN, we are focusing on how we can support staff, donors, families, and schools we serve as well as our partner nonprofits in our community.
Our Office and Staff
The health and safety of our employees is of great concern to the CLN Board. We are following the guidance of the Center for Disease Control, and are taking proactive steps to implement additional health safety measures. Currently all members of our staff are working from home most days of the week. The Executive Director is stopping in for mail and to prepare for upcoming fall programs as is necessary. If you need to meet with the Executive Director or a fellow staff member, please email them directly.
Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the following adjustments to our programs for the 2020-2021 programming year. These adjustments are temporary, until it is safe to return to normal operations.
- Given the current restrictions on in-person volunteers by schools, we are currently accepting remote volunteer help. We do need volunteers for several of our programs (Book Pals and FLIP nights) who are able to serve via Zoom. We are also hosting volunteer trainings via Zoom.
- We are still accepting in-kind donations of new children’s books (these include picture books, chapter books and hard-back books). These donations can be dropped off at the New Center where the CLN team will sanitize and safely store until they can be distributed.
Like so many organizations, we are facing tough choices related to the safety of those we serve. If you have any questions about these changes, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We will continue to re-evaluate our policies as a team to ensure we are taking appropriate measures for everyone’s safety.
