Qualified Charitable Distributions

How to Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to Children’s Literacy Network

If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a gift directly from your IRA to Children’s Literacy Network — and it may count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) without increasing your taxable income.

Here’s how it works:

1. Contact your IRA custodian

Let your financial institution or plan administrator know that you’d like to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to Children’s Literacy Network. They can send the distribution directly to CLN on your behalf.

2. Provide the following information

Your IRA administrator will need the nonprofit’s legal and mailing details:

Legal Name: Children’s Literacy Network
Tax ID (EIN): 38-3002473
Mailing Address:
Children’s Literacy Network
1100 N. Main Street, Suite 207
Ann Arbor, MI 48104

3. Notify us of your gift

Because QCD checks often arrive without the donor’s name, please let us know your gift is on the way. You can email us at ally@childrensliteracynetwork.org or call (734) 210-1990 so we can thank you and ensure your gift is credited properly.

4. Keep a record for your taxes

You’ll receive a written acknowledgment from CLN confirming your charitable gift. Be sure to share this with your tax advisor when filing your return.
