Reading Stars, Readers Theater

In these two-week, in-person elementary school-level sessions, children write a script, practice reading and performance, and ultimately deliver a theater production that is completely their own. This program employs a research-based learning model featuring reading supports, innovative arts and drama activities, and essential social and emotional development opportunities to address the needs of both struggling readers and under-resourced students.

Volunteer experience:

Volunteers work as mentors to support children as they develop the production, write their own scripts, practice their lines, and create the scenery, props and costumes. Volunteers will need to be able to commit to a full two-week session with our program.

Donations:

$25 provides a student a healthy lunch all week.
$75 provides the supplies for 5 children to create costumes, props and scenery.
$125 provides books for all 35 participants in one Readers Theater Camp.
